If you’ll be “ringing” in the new year - you are already excited about planning a totally 2019 wedding. (Oh, and CONGRATULATIONS!) So what is in, and what is out!? We will give you a hint:
2019 is ALL about customization!
Cohesive Event Branding
From “save the dates” to wedding decor to “thank you” cards - matching is a way to mark your day in the minds of both you and your guests, forever! Over the last several years, we have seen a movement towards creating 100% cohesive fonts and themes. This started as an invitation suite trend and has now expanded.
In 2019, we expect that more couples than ever will purchase all custom signage. Think welcome signs, guest books, table numbers, cake toppers, and even cute ring bearer signs!
While wood doesn’t appear to be going anywhere, acrylics are a growing trend for modern, classy weddings.
Today, most groomsmen would rather wear their Apple watches than a Rolex. Millennials tend to be either hard core consumers who have way too much stuff, or complete minimalists. So what can you expect to purchase as thank you gifts in 2019?
Personalized gifts, of course. Both timeless and trendy, custom gifts can be an extension of your wedding theme. A personalized rustic wooden wine box is a perfect example.
Destination weddings are gifting things like personalized welcome baskets or gift boxes for guests, rather than traditional party favors. Fun basket items include an itinerary and map for the weekend, local treats, personalize thank you gifts, or keepsakes relevant to the couple or locale.
Another rising wedding trend is inventive, personal food options. Remember, 2019 weddings will be completely branded from start to finish. Couples are putting their spin on traditional plates by adding options that are personal favorites, or offering themed food stations. Taco bars, build your own pizza, or breakfast-for-dinner are all fun ideas we’ve seen. And don’t forget the drinks! It’s still “in” to name a custom cocktail after the newlyweds!
Venues and Themes
Whether the venue inspires the theme or the other way around, these two are tightly knit. Barn weddings felt unique at first, but became so mainstream that they seem to have hit their peak, and they lost some steam in 2018. Couples are starting to opt for industrial warehouses and similar “empty shell” venues that lend themselves to similarly rustic feels. Decorating with wood, custom monograms, and acrylics is still in high fashion.
When it comes to color, experts are expecting an increase in bright or deep colors, as well as a return to simplified black and white weddings. Florals will follow these trends, and we’ve heard a whisper that dahlias are the flower of 2019!
