In the last few years, designers and DIYers alike have aimed to decorate with both elegance and nature in mind. If white furniture and cabinetry haven’t been the main road to elegance, it has been wood accents that secured the connection and freshness of the outdoors.
2019 will bring in some new, but pros don’t expect to be “out with the old” this coming year. Fixer Upper may be done, but Chip and Joanna’s influence on the modern farmhouse look will live on.
Here is what to expect for home decor in 2019:
Colored Walls and Cabinetry
White furniture lives on, but we are also seeing bold moves towards deep greys, greens and blues (walls and furniture alike). The color of 2019 is Night Watch, a deep leaf green, and we are already seeing this color pop up as accents and main walls alike.
As with the painted white cabinets and walls, wood accents serve to keep colorful rooms feeling earthy.
"Items made by hand using sustainable materials like jute, rice paper, and clay will be in, in 2019. We see people needing these grounding elements in their homes as a way to feel more in touch with the earth and their roots." — Kristen Peña of K Interiors
Influential designers are using a variety of handmade items more and more. Not only is it on trend in a fashion sense, but it also supports the modern movement towards shopping small!
The custom cookbook stand pictured above has been wildly popular at the end of 2018, and we expect to see more and more demand for organizational items like hanging key and mail holders.
Custom framed signs have become one of the most common ways to make a room unique. From kitchens to nurseries, a small saying or quote can capture the essence of those who inhabit the space. Simple, elegant and earthy, framed signs are going nowhere in 2019!
